Enhancing Experiences with VR Technologies

On 11 April, CDG-Booster organised a local Meetup in Lahti focusing on how extended and virtual reality technologies can be used in experience-driven sectors. The event featured Estonian company Blueray, which develops VR games based on historical events for local sites across Estonia. Blueray's team, which includes both creatives and historians, shared insights on balancing historical accuracy with smooth user experiences and practical considerations like selecting suitable VR headsets and managing device hygiene for public use.

The Meetup was co-organised with the Lahti Entrepreneurship Society, which led a workshop encouraging participants to envision how XR technologies could enhance their businesses. Discussions highlighted key lessons for companies, such as ease of use, content authenticity, and cross-disciplinary collaboration when creating immersive experiences.

Ideas emerging from the event included using VR/AR for educational tours, therapeutic environments for mental well-being, interactive museum experiences, virtual retail trials, immersive journalism, and augmented tourism services. These fields, where creating strong emotional and experiential connections is critical, offer clear opportunities for companies willing to innovate thoughtfully with immersive technologies.

As immersive tools become more accessible, AR/VR/XR offers companies a growing set of possibilities to enhance customer experiences, training, and storytelling, opening new avenues for growth and engagement across industries.
